Job Summary

The Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Supervisor is responsible for managing the service, repair, and overall maintenance of the company’s and client’s fleet of owned, operated, and leased equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze root causes of equipment failures and propose corrective actions.
  • Provide round-the-clock support for employees and troubleshoot their equipment problems and concerns.
  • Perform regular inspections to identify and correct equipment malfunctions, repairs, and replacements.
  • Assemble, test, and maintain company equipment and read and understand equipment operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Provide employee assistance and on-the-job training when requested and propose improvements to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Monitor, Prioritize and Follow up on GSE  Technician’s daily work loads
  • Ensure GSE technicians work adheres to company policies and safety regulations.
  • Ensure GSE Technicians maintain their working facility in a clean, safe, and organized way.
  • Foster a healthy working environment and promote a positive climate within the workplace.
  • Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers.
  • Any other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Post secondary diploma or degree in a related field.
  • 5 + years previous maintenance experience or completion of a journeyman ticket or license in a related vehicle, heavy equipment, or small motors trade
  • A valid class G driver’s license is required.
  • Excellent computer skills, MS-Office preferable, proficient in use of internet and email
  • Able to work in a team environment, as well as unsupervised.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proven mechanical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset.
  • Previous airline experience is an asset.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional travel is required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Weekend and evening work may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift or move up to 50lbs.
  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
