Job Summary

The Training, Safety and Compliance Department Assistant will work closely with the Key members of the Department (SMS, Quality Assurance, Training, DG, OHS) to ensure that the Department programs run efficiently and within the mandated Regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Training Department - Assist with:

  • The daily updating of the company training records and tracking program
  • Working with training course module owners to update the training
  • Performing regular quality control checks to ensure the training and tracking program is accurate and up to date
  • The Training and Standards Coordinator in the creation, and amendment of courses within the Training and Tracking program
  • The Training and Standards Coordinator to update and create offline “Practical” type training courses. When required, assist in the delivery of these courses
  • The implementation of the new Avaio Training Platform.

Quality Assurance Program - Assist with:

  • Audit paperwork creation and filing
  • Audit section sampling
  • Audit interviews
  • Audit program database upkeep
  • Working with 3rd party audit providers i.e. Transport Canada, BARs etc.
  • Working with the departments to come up with corrective action plans
  • Administration of Opening and closing meetings and its associated paperwork
  • Base Visits to complete select audit sections
  • The Implementation of the Avaio QA program

Safety Management System - Assist with:

  • SMS report investigations
  • Base visits to help with practical SMS training, Hazard inspections, investigations
  • SMS database administration
  • When required, complete minutes and/or Summaries for the Quarterly and Annual SMS review meetings
  • The Implementation of the Avaio SMS Program

BARs Certification - Assist with:

  • Implementation of BARs i.e. Gap analysis, manual updates, process creation and improvements
  • Completion of internal BARs reviews to stay in compliance with applicable requirements
  • Working with 3rd parties to complete mandatory reviews of the BARs program
  • Developing applicable training to ensure BARs’ policies and procedures are in place and understood by the company
  • Implementation of any new aircraft into the BARs program i.e. PC12s, 1900s etc.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Professional and tactful interpersonal skills.

Additional Skills and Qualifications Considered an Asset

  • Experience with adult education and instructional techniques
  • Experience in the Aviation industry
  • Experience in any of the programs held by the department
  • Knowledge of Oji-Cree or Ojibway
  • Familiarity with First Nations Organizations

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required.
  • Overtime, weekend, and evening work may be necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
