Check-in Time

All passengers must check-in at their departure station as follows:

  • Sioux Lookout - at least 45 minutes prior to departure time
  • Thunder Bay - at least 30 minutes prior to departure time
  • Red Lake - at least 20 minutes prior to departure time
  • Northern Stations - at least 20 minutes prior to departure time

Travelling guests who have not checked in  prior to cut off will be deemed as a no-show guest and their seat re-sold.

Change of Plans

Should your reservation no longer be required because of a change in your plans, please let Wasaya Airways know. Someone may be waiting for a cancellation to make an important trip.

Denied Boarding

To ensure on-time departure for our travelling guests, it is important that passengers observe the above check-in times in order that they are not denied boarding.

Please be aware that, in the interest of flight safety, passengers under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted to board Wasaya Airways' aircraft.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Wasaya Airways’ included baggage allowance is 2 pieces of checked-in baggage and one piece of carry-on, the total of which may not exceed 31. 8 kg (70 pounds). Excess charges will be collected on any piece that exceeds these limits.

Each passenger is only allowed one piece of carry-on baggage and it must fit under the seat. Carry-on baggage must not exceed 5.9kg ( 13lbs) on all Wasaya Airways aircraft and is included in the 70lbs of free baggage allowance.

Along with your carry on, you will be allowed one piece of baggage not to exceed 11.34kg (25lbs) in weight that will be guaranteed to travel with you to your destination. The total of these two baggage pieces (carry on and guaranteed travel bag) shall not exceed 17.24kg (38lbs)

In the instance when the flight is full, excess baggage over the 17.24kg (38lbs) may not make it on the same flight. In the case that any excess baggage does not travel with you on your flight, please note that your baggage will be expedited to its destination within 2 to 3 days. Once your baggage arrives at your destination, our agent will contact you to pick it up.

Cabin Baggage Allowance

Limit of one (1) regulation sized piece, not exceeding 6” in height or width and 5.9 kilograms (13 pounds) per ticketed passenger. Any items exceeding these limits will have to be checked and will be subject to excess charges if applicable.

Excess Baggage

Excess baggage will be assessed at the applicable rate per pound to the destination of the guest's itinerary. Excess baggage is deemed space available, but will be priority over regular air freight.

Baggage Liability

Wasaya Airways' maximum liability for lost or damaged luggage is $ 250.00 CAD per person, per incident. Wasaya Airways assumes no liability for fragile, valuable or perishable articles. Guests will be asked to complete a Luggage Liability Release form upon checking in these items. Please inform us of any loss or damage to luggage within 24 hours of arrival to your destination.

Travelling with Pets

Wasaya Airways is pet friendly! Whether your pet is travelling in the cabin or in the cargo compartment, proper arrangements need to be made prior to travel.

Fare Information

Whether you need to travel today, or tomorrow, Wasaya Airways provides Full Fare and Best Fare options for greater flexibility and economy. Remember, the earlier you book, the more you can save with our best fares!

Freedom Fares

  • Advanced Booking: Anytime, full capacity of the aircraft. Seasonal limitations may be in effect during season load limitations for hot and/or inclement weather conditions.
  • Flight Changes: Changes to the itinerary are permitted online or through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre up to 1 hour prior to departure time for a $50.00 CAD charge per change/cancellation per guest, plus fare difference and applicable taxes, subject to availability.
  • Flight Cancellation: Complimentary Cancellations are permitted online or through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre up to 1 hour prior to departure time. Remaining balance shall be held as a credit that may be used towards the purchase of any future travel. The credit will remain valid for one (1) year from the original date of purchase.
  • Same-Day Early Standby: Complimentary same-day changes are permitted at the airport, subject to availability.
  • Name Changes: Name changes are permitted through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre.

Flex Fares

 

  • Advanced Booking: 1 Day or more, limited availability Seasonal limitations may be in effect during season load limitations for hot and/or inclement weather conditions.
  • Flight Changes: Changes to the itinerary are permitted online or through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre up to 1 hour prior to departure time for a $75.00 CAD charge per change/cancellation per guest, plus fare difference and applicable taxes, subject to availability.
  • Flight Cancellation: Cancellations to the itinerary are permitted online or through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre up to 1 hour prior to departure time for a $75.00 CAD charge per cancellation per direction per guest, plus fare difference and applicable taxes, subject to availability. Remaining balance shall be held as a credit that may be used towards the purchase of any future travel. The credit will remain valid for one (1) year from the original date of purchase.
  • Same-Day Early Standby: Same-day changes are permitted at the airport for $25 CAD per guest per direction plus applicable taxes, subject to availability.
  • Name Changes: Name changes are permitted through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre for $25 CAD per guest, per direction plus applicable taxes.

Econo Fares

 

  • Advanced Booking: 7 Days or more, limited availability. Seasonal limitations may be in effect during season load limitations for hot and/or inclement weather conditions.
  • Flight Changes: Changes to the itinerary are permitted online or through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre up to 1 hour prior to departure time for a $100.00 CAD charge per change/cancellation per guest, plus fare difference and applicable taxes, subject to availability.
  • Flight Cancellation: Cancellations to the itinerary are permitted online or through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre up to 1 hour prior to departure time for a $100.00 CAD charge per cancellation per direction per guest, plus fare difference and applicable taxes, subject to availability. Remaining balance shall be held as a credit that may be used towards the purchase of any future travel. The credit will remain valid for one (1) year from the original date of purchase.
  • Same-Day Early Standby: Same-day changes are permitted at the airport for $50.00 CAD per guest per direction plus applicable taxes, subject to availability.
  • Name Changes: Name changes are permitted through the Wasaya Customer Care Centre for $50 CAD per guest, per direction plus applicable taxes.

General Rules

  • Same-Day Early Standby: With the purchase of any confirmed ticket customers have the option to standby, on a space available basis, for a flight departing earlier on the same day of original confirmed travel. Charges may apply depending on the fare brand purchased.
  • 24-Hour Cancellation Policy: Full refunds are offered for all reservations that are made and cancelled within 24 hours of original purchase. Please call our Customer Care Centre at 1.877.492.7292 to apply this policy to your booking.
  • Econo Fare Guests who do not check in or call to cancel or change their reservation within the required one hour prior to departure will be considered a no-show. This will result in forfeiting of fare and guests will not be eligible for refund, credit or re-accommodation.
  • Flex Fare Guests who do not check in or call to cancel or change their reservation within the required one hour prior to departure will be considered a no-show. This will result in forfeiting of fare and guests will not be eligible for refund, credit or re-accommodation.
  • Freedom/Community Fare Guests who do not check in or call to cancel or change their reservation within the required one hour prior to departure will be considered a no-show. Guests who no-show and contact the Wasaya Customer Care Centre within 24 hours of missing their flight can be rebooked for a $100.00 CDN (including taxes) re-accommodation fee. If there is no contact within 24 hours, the fare is forfeited and guests will not be eligible for refund, credit or re-accommodation.
  • Credit Files: In the event a non-refundable reservation is cancelled a credit file, minus the cancellation fee, is created and can be used towards future travel anywhere in Wasaya Airways network. This credit is also transferable to another person. If the value of the future travel exceeds the credit amount, the difference will be charged; if less, a credit balance will remain on file.
  • Bookings using credit must be in the name of the owner of the credit. To book using a credit, please contact our Customer Care Centre at 1.877.492.7292 and have your credit file number ready.
  • Refunds: All reservations are fully refundable within 24 hours of booking. Cancelled flights after 24 hours will be credited (less change fee) for future Wasaya flights. All travel using applied credit must be completed within 12 months of original reservation.

Fare Details

All fares displayed on the website are subject to change until the purchase and approval of the reservations has been received and completed by Wasaya.

On our website you will always find the lowest available fare and the full fare displayed for each available flight.

Fares displayed include all fees, taxes and surcharges as follows:

•             Air Transportation Charge: Base fare, $12 Nav Canada surcharge, $11    
              Fuel Surcharge and $3 Insurance surcharge

•             Air Travellers Security Charge (ATSC)

•             Airport Improvement Fee (AIF)

•             HST

When there are seat sale prices available it will show the seat sale fare, lowest regular fare and full fare.

Fares are quoted on a one-way basis and are subject to change without notice. Seats at the lowest fare are limited and may not be available on all flights.

Fares Not Bookable Online

A number of Wasaya fares cannot be booked online. If you are booking for any of the following guests, please call our friendly reservation staff.

Travel for Elders and Children on Wasaya Airways

Children are defined as under twelve years of age and Elders are defined as sixty-five years of age or older. Proper identification may be required to verify age. Infants are defined as under two years of age. Infants travel with a parent or assigned guardian and will sit on the lap of the parent or guardian. Infants travel at no charge.

According to Transport Canada regulations, arrangements must be made in advance for children travelling alone. Unaccompanied children must be checked-in by a parent or assigned guardian and must be met at destination by a parent or assigned guardian. Children under six years of age will not normally be accepted for unescorted travel. Please contact a Reservation Agent for additional information.

Discounts for Elders are available on all regular fares and special fares are available for children. Discounts may be limited on some promotional and seat sale specials.

Youth Standby Reservations

Wasaya Airways offers standby reservations for youth under the age of 25. A standby reservation is not confirmed until check-in and is a first come, first-serve basis only. Guests with a standby reservation must be at the airport at check-in time in order to be assigned an available seat.

Surcharges

An insurance surcharge, fuel surcharge, and Nav Canada surcharge will be added to some fares and will be applied in addition to all other fares and/or fees. An additional AIF (Airport Improvement Fee) may be applied in some airports and is directly charged to your reservation. Currently Sioux Lookout and Red Lake apply this charge to departing passengers. Individual airports charge different fee amounts and will be reflected on your itinerary. This fee is collected by the airline and remitted to the airport authority.

Liability Respecting Passengers

The liability of the carrier in respect of the death or injury to a passenger carried for the hire and reward when the injury, whether resulting in death or not, is sustained during the operation of flight while embarking or disembarking, or at any time while the passenger is aboard the aircraft, is limited to the sum of $300,000.00.

Service for Persons with Special Needs

Wasaya Airways offers service for passengers with disabilities or that require additional assistance. At the time of booking, please advise our Passenger Service Agent, so that your needs may be addressed on an individual basis.

Bereavement Fares

Wasaya Airways offers reduced bereavement fares for those who need to fly due to the death of an immediate family member. 

Eligibility to travel includes immediate family members who are defined as Spouse, Parent, Child (including adopted), Brother, Sister, Daughter In-Law, Son In-Law, Mother In-Law, Father In-Law, Grandparent or Grandchild. 

Passengers travelling under bereavement travel are required to provide a Death Certificate or Funeral Director's statement to the check-in agent on the return portion of their trip. Please contact a Passenger Service Agent at 1.877.492.7292 for additional information and possible restrictions.
