Job Summary

The Crew Chief is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities are accomplished in accordance with the policies, procedures, and instructions contained with the MCM, MPM, MOP and Transport Canada requirements. Accommodations will be provided to the rotational worker. 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Crew Chief is responsible for the following:

  1. Ensure that all work is completed in a timely manner
  2. Ensure that all personnel are properly utilized and any necessary “on the job training” is being accomplished in order to uphold a high standard of maintenance for the aircraft
  3. Notify the Vice President of Maintenance or Production Manager (via the Base Engineer) of any abnormalities that occur in the regard to the aircraft
  4. Liaison with dispatch (as required after the Base Engineer has left for the day) in order to investigate any operational requirements s well as which aircraft are available
  5. Ensure that the Hangar and delegated workshops are kept clean. They are to ensure that the aircraft are kept clean as well as properly configured for their next day of flying
  6. Ensure that maintenance personnel are instructed in regard to the inspection and maintenance methods to be employed and monitor the work completed on the floor
  7. Ensure the manner in which all work completed is the same and in accordance with company and federal health and safety policies
  8. Maintain the base stores department in accordance to MOP 4.5 (excluding YQT base)
  9. Ensure that journey log books are completed and certified properly
  10. Ensure that all morning “supervisory” checks are completed
  11. Keep base engineers informed of all employee issues
  12. Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers
  13. Any other related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Hold a valid AME license
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) and email
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills
