Job Summary

The Red Lake Shipper and Receivers’ main duty is to ensure all incoming and outgoing freight is properly processed and is in acceptable condition for further shipping. Based on site at Wasaya Red Lake base, the Shipper and Receiver will ensure all dangerous goods are inspected and documented according to company, ICAO, and Transport Canada regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with other departments and customers to ensure that all operational goals are
  • Operate Forklift truck and freight handling equipment required to perform duties related to unloading and loading transport trailers, trucks, and vans in a timely and safe fashion.
  • Accurately perform piece counts, sort, label and warehouse miscellaneous freight and cargo in a timely manner, along with Inventory control
  • Perform inspections of received cargo for damage, regulatory compliance for dangerous goods and pro-bill accuracy.
  • Perform all paperwork and record keeping functions related to shipping and receiving inbound and outbound cargo to prescribed standards.
  • Maintain warehouses, cargo storage areas and shipping and receiving docks in a clean and organized manner.
  • Ensure all safety policies, practices and procedures are adhered to during the performance of all assigned tasks.
  • Report defects found with allocated ground service equipment or ramp/warehouse supplies to ramp and warehouse supervisor.
  • Assist with ground crew operations as needed.
  • Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external
  • Any other related duties as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Previous shipping and receiving experience an asset.
  • Proven mechanical
  • Operate ground equipment, including forklift truck: Experience an asset, Training provided.
  • Basic mathematical skills and Computer skills, MS-Office preferable, proficient in use of internet and email
  • Able to work in a team environment, as well as
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in
  • Strong attention to detail and organized record keeping
  • Ability to maintain
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and
  • The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset
