Job Summary

The Cargo Agent accurately enters all freight shipments into the computer database, produces loads for all cargo aircraft and contacts customers regarding all aspects of freight shipments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Identify problems and make recommendations towards solutions
  2. Ensure excellent customer care when handling customer calls/inquiries, accepting cargo, collecting payment; providing quotes and in any other customer situations
  3. Contact customers regarding incoming freight, required purchase orders or monies due in a professional and courteous manner
  4. Accurately produces all freight loads for company aircraft according to the prescribed aircraft weight and balance prior to scheduled departure times
  5. Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing freight
  6. Accurately enter all incoming freight into freight tracking computer software system
  7. Cargo acceptance and inventory control
  8. Assist with tracking of delayed baggage
  9. Preparing quotations for customers
  10. Complete Daily Sales Reports and any other required paperwork
  11. Follow company policies and procedures when accepting dangerous goods
  12. Perform daily facility opening and closing procedures
  13. Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers
  14. Any other related duties as assigned as per the Station Managers discretion

Skills and Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license is required 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to meet security requirements to obtain Restricted Area Pass
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift truck is an asset
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of filling out waybills is an asset
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision

Assets:

  • Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway
  • Previous shipping and receiving experience are an asset
  • Knowledge of filling out waybills is an asset

Accommodations:

•        Rotational 2 weeks on/2 weeks off

•        Food and accommodations are provided

•        Transportation to and from Thunder Bay to Pickle Lake provided (If needed)

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.; Repetitively
  • Manual dexterity
  • Overtime as required
  • Weekend work may be required
  • Travel may be required
  • Hazards associated with trade
  • May be exposed to loud noise, dirt, oil and fumes
  • Completion of a satisfactory criminal record check
  • Identify proof of fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021 - COVID 19
