Job Summary

Northern Area Specialist represents Wasaya interests at the community level. The Northern Area Specialist will be based out of Sioux Lookout or Thunder Bay and must be able travel extensively to work from northern area stations on a regular basis to cover agents. This agent would report to Northern Area Managers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Will be required to perform northern agent duties in all Northern Area Stations
  2. Must be flexible with extensive travel up to several nights at a time
  3. Easily adjustable to new environments and working conditions
  4. Communicate with Wasaya Airways LP Operations regarding the planned movements of Wasaya Airways LP passenger and cargo flights
  5. Actively solicit within the community for charter work and passengers for scheduled flights
  6. Utilize radio & available media to develop and advise community of promotions, rates, etc
  7. Handle air to ground radio communications with incoming aircraft providing the local altimeter setting, wind information and provide airport and local weather reports
  8. Meet all Wasaya Airways LP aircraft and ensure bags and cargo are unloaded in a timely and efficient fashion
  9. Ensure that all passenger (identify special-needs passengers) and cargo traffic or special shipments are checked in and receives the proper documentation as per Wasaya Airways LP policy
  10. Ensure that all passengers and shipments have completed the necessary ticket and waybill documentation
  11. Represent Wasaya Airways LP in the community in a friendly, positive and helpful fashion
  12. Attend required training sessions and perform other duties as assigned by Wasaya Airways LP
  13. Ensure accurate and prompt completion of Daily Sales Reports
  14. Prompt remittance of all Wasaya revenue through pre-authorized mediums
  15. Meet and perform flight check in duties for Charter flights when required
  16. Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers
  17. Any other related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience with radio communication is an asset
  • Must provide a reference from Chief and Council
Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Handle themselves with professionalism
  • Computer skills, including effective skills of MS Word, Excel, and e-mail
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Possess a high level of honestly and integrity

Assets: 

  • Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway

Conditions of Employment: 

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
